Question 1

Should I use Terraform Cloud or Terracotta AI?

Accepted Answer

Terraform Cloud is HashiCorp's managed platform for remote execution, state management, and workspace orchestration. Terracotta is an AI-powered PR analysis layer that adds cost estimation, drift detection, security analysis, and guardrails without replacing your pipeline. If you need managed plan/apply and state, use Terraform Cloud. If you need AI-powered PR intelligence that works with your existing setup, use Terracotta.

Question 2

How much does Terraform Cloud cost compared to Terracotta AI?

Accepted Answer

Terraform Cloud uses resource-based pricing: Standard tier costs ~$0.47/resource/month, so 1,000 resources costs ~$470/month and 10,000 resources costs ~$4,700/month. Drift detection requires Standard tier. Terracotta uses per-seat pricing at $49/seat/month with all features included. Cost doesn't scale with infrastructure size.
