Question 1

How does Terracotta AI compare to Infracost for cost estimation?

Accepted Answer

Infracost is a dedicated cost estimation tool supporting 1,100+ resource types with usage-based modeling. Terracotta includes cost estimation as one of twelve PR checks, alongside drift detection, security analysis, guardrails, blast radius, and AI code review. Infracost Cloud starts at $1,000/month for 10 seats (cost estimation only), while Terracotta Platform is $49/seat/month for all twelve checks.

Question 2

Can I use Terracotta AI and Infracost together?

Accepted Answer

They serve different scopes. Infracost focuses exclusively on granular cost estimation with usage-based modeling. Terracotta delivers cost alongside drift, security, guardrails, blast radius, architecture visualization, and AI code review in a single PR comment. Most teams find Terracotta replaces the need for a separate cost tool, but teams requiring usage-based cost projections may benefit from both.
